The 1995 500cc World Championship began with Mick Doohan determined to retain the title he had battled so hard to win the previous year. The statistics make it look like the Australian maestro had an easy ride to the crown, but as this Official Review shows, Doohan had to fight every step of the way.

The Honda star put his marker down at round one, taking the first of 10 pole positions and cruising to the first of seven victories. More of the same at round two made it look like Doohan was guaranteed his second World Championship. However, bad luck and mistakes saw his grip on the title slip – after six rounds he was trailing Lucky Strike Suzuki rival Daryl Beattie by more than 20 points.

Injury at Assen dented Beattie’s hopes, but Doohan still wouldn’t have it all his own way. Beattie returned with renewed determination and Luca Cadalora finally found pace on the Team Roberts Yamaha, meaning Doohan would have to battle it out in an edge-of-seat showdown in Argentina before finally sealing a second World Championship. The title-deciding race at Buenos Aires is a nail-biting thrill ride as Beattie does everything in his power to take the championship fight to the final race of the year.

This Official Review brings you the full dramatic story, with action-packed practice and race coverage from all 13 rounds, plus interviews and behind-the-scenes features. Stunning footage lets you relive the highlights, including spectacular rides from Alex Barros, Alberto Puig, Alex Criville, Loris Capirossi, Norfumi Abe, Carlos Checa and Britain’s Neil Hodgson.

While the title battle may have been settled, the final round of the year is one of the best ever. The race-long battle between Checa, Criville, Capirossi and Shinichi Itoh , which finished with the top three split by just 0.623 seconds is an absolute thriller.

This was also the final year for Kevin Schwantz, the 1993 World Champion hanging up his helmet midway through the season as he battled with injury. The Official Review includes his tearful retirement announcement, and a look back at his sparkling career.
