The intrepid self-build guru Mark Evans takes on another challenge, attempting to restore two bikes from scratch and build a trike from a kit.
Aside from the self build challenges, the series includes some personal biking stories gathered from motorcycle fraternities around the UK.
Appealing to amateurs and professional, male and female alike, this is serious nuts and bolts action from the heart of the workshop. A Bike is Born contains the perfect ingredients for anyone passionate about motorcycles.
In this volume, Mark's bike challenge is to build a two seater, three-wheeled trike using the rear axle from a VW Beetle. Power is supplied courtesy of a 1600 VW engine with twin Weber carburettors.
The trike is capable of a cruising speed of 77mph and does between 24 and 32 miles per gallon. Dressed in stainless steel, the red fibreglass body has been treated to a trendy airbrush job.
