Armoured Fighting Vehicles of the 20th Century traces the evolution of the tank, together with its proliferating series of armoured relatives from its primitive state in World War I via the mass-produced and reliable types that were decisive in the land warfare of World War II, to the current generation of battle tanks, mechanised infantry fighting vehicles and armoured personnel carriers that played so decisive a part in the 1991 UN-led war to drive the Iragi invaders out of Kuwait.
