Il loro motore era un raffinato sei cilindri in linea. Nel 1961 si aggiunse alla gamma anche la splendida e potente 2300 S Coupé carrozzata da Ghia, una delle più riuscite e affascinanti sportive della Fiat, mentre l’anno successivo fu la volta della più economica 1500 L, a quattro cilindri. L’idea dell’auto per tutti nasce dopo la Prima Guerra Mondiale e inizia a concretizzarsi con modelli come la 509 e la 508 Balilla, per poi arrivare nel 1936 alla 500 Topolino, la prima vera utilitaria italiana. Nel dopoguerra si assiste finalmente al boom dell’automobile popolare con la 600 e, subito dopo, con l’insuperabile 500. La tradizione prosegue con la 850, la moderna 127 a trazione anteriore e la 126. Dall’estro di Giorgetto Giugiaro arrivano poi le protagoniste degli anni Ottanta: la riuscitissima Panda e la Uno. Passando per la Cinquecento, la Seicento e le diverse Punto, il volume arriva fino ai modelli contemporanei: la Nuova Panda, la Grande Punto e la neonata 500. Synopsis

In production from 1966 to 1985, the Pininfarina-designed 124 Spider was a huge export success for Fiat with over 170,000 examples being sold in the USA alone, whilst the 124 Coupé, styled by Boano, also enjoyed sales success throughout the world between 1967 and 1975. Both cars used Fiat's willing and technically advanced twin-cam engine in sizes ranging from 1400 to 2000cc. Towards the end of production the Spider even enjoyed supercharged performance in its Volumex form.

Not to be forgotten is the 124 Spider's important rule in international rallying during the 1970s, when the cars created and homologated by Abarth were very successful and always newsworthy. Over 1000 examples of the legendary Fiat-Abarth 124 Spider were built and today, deservedly, these traditionally black-bonneted/hooded cars enjoy great status amongst serious collectors.
