BEN WATSON
Ford Motor Company began building cars with computer-based fuel-control systems in the late 1970s. In 1980, Ford introduced the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) III system, followed by the EEC IV system in 1984. This fuel-injection system featured onboard self-diagnostics and it ushered in a new era in engine control.
The beauty of the EEC III system, and especially the EEC IV system, is the user-friendliness for both the do-it-yourselfer and the professional mechanic. Automotive expert Ben Watson makes it easy to learn fuel-injection electronics, use special diagnostic tools, extract trouble codes, interpret data, and correct problems. Modification and emission information is also included.
