Interspersed throughout are superb shots of Redman in action and wheel-to-wheel with legends Mike Hailwood, Giacomo Agostini, Phil Read and Bob McIntyre. Dramatic footage from the TT, Assen, Spa, the Sachsenring and short circuits (Brands Hatch, Oulton Park, Thruxton etc) brings this great era alive. DJ had become synonymous with the Isle of Man TT, holding the lap records and overall race records for the Formula 1, Senior and Production classes. He became the first rider to lap the Isle of Man TT course at 125mph, 126mph and 127mph, to complete a sub 18-minute lap and the only rider in TT history to have treble wins in 3 consecutive years. He left his mark on the British Superstock Championship, winning it in 2000 and 2002, the Scarborough Gold Cup, winning it a record 5 times, and enjoyed victories in the Ulster Grand Prix, World Superstock and many other international racing events throughout his illustrious career. 

The David Jefferies Story is a reminder of the much loved and much missed Yorkshireman. Blessed with film star looks, charm and an innate talent for riding bikes, Agostini was never going to be an ordinary rider. In 1965 he signed up to ride Count Agusta’s magnificent MV machines, and his epic battles with Mike Hailwood’s Honda became the stuff of motorcycle legend. In 1974 Ago switched to Yamaha and the success continued. He was 500cc World Champion for seven years in succession (‘66-’72) and 350 Champion for another seven (‘68-’74). Both are records and are likely to remain so. 

He took his sublime skills to the TT, riding 16 races, winning ten - all on MV Agustas. He completed a Senior/Junior double in 1968, 1969, 1970 and 1972 and was involved in the thrilling Diamond Jubilee battle with Hailwood.

This enthralling film captures the essence of a man who combined skill and courage with a magical touch for motorcycle riding; a man who never once fell seriously in his seventeen-year career; a man who simply could not stop winning. This is the story of Ago, a true champion.

For several years, and against serious competition - including TT legend Joey Dunlop - he made the famous Isle of Man TT Course his own, winning 11 TT's, including four Seniors. Most famously, he put a British bike back on top riding the rotary-engined Norton in the epic 1992 'White Charger' battle with Carl Fogarty.

Hizzy was just as good on short circuits, winning the 250 Supercup in 1990. He also took the British Superbike Championship at his first attempt in 1995, a feat he repeated in 2002 at the age of 40.

This story is packed with great moments in Steve's career and features tributes from Nial Mackenzie, John Reynolds, Paul Bird, Rob McElnea and others. It celebrates the achievements of a straight-talking master of his craft who mixed speed and aggression with a smooth style that was admired by his opponents. In a life plagued with setbacks, he just kept on winning – a true champion of road and track.
