This event was held, uniquely, in the giant Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and is renowned for the confrontation between England's Kenny Carter and American superstar Bruce Penhall. They touched on a corner, touched again on a straight, and then Carter went through the fence giving Penhall the '82 crown. Whose fault was it?
