NORMAN PAINTING
In its time Wolseley was the largest motor car manufacturer in Britain. However, motor cars were only part of the Wolseley story and Norman Painting's book also details the company's involvement with submarines, aeroplanes, airships, shell cases, gun mountings, buses, lorries and speedboats. Wolseley was home to some of the most radical, innovative and influential engineers and designers of the era. The company's financial collapse in 1926 sent shock waves through the whole of British industry and the Morris takeover at that time represented in many ways the end of "The Real Wolseley".
