TOYOTA MR2 GOLD PORTFOLIO 1984-1997
The original MR2 had flat panels and sharp edges and not the prettiest of cars. But it handled well with a twin-cam 1.6-litre, 16-valve engine developing 122bhp and all-round MacPherson strut suspension. It was a success. Five years later the car was replaced by one with the same designation but the styling was more rounded and had better performance and a choice of engines. In the beginning there were 119bhp or 158bhp versions of the 2-litre 16-valve twin-cam and later, although not for every market, the 245bhp Turbo. This is a book of contemporary road and comparison tests, specification and technical data, new model introductions, drivers impressions, long-term tests, buying second hand. Cover the Coupé, T-Bar, GT, Turbo, Supercharged. 172 pages, 450 illus. SB.
