Die Anfänge waren bescheiden:
1928 begann Volvo, auf kleinen Lkw-Chassis seine ersten Omnibusse zu bauen. 1934 wurde mit dem “B 1” die erste reine Bus-Konstruktion des schwedischen Herstellers realisiert. Und schon damals ging ein beachtlicher Teil der Bus-Produktion in den Export - nicht umsonst ist Volvo heute gerade auch als Hersteller von Bussen weltweit ein Begriff. Es folgte eine lange Reihe technischer Entwicklungen, die Busse wurden bis zur heutigen TX-Generation immer größer, stärker und schneller, aber auch immer sicherer und umweltfreundlicher. Und nicht zuletzt immer komfortabler, weshalb auch der Kauf des Heilbronner Busherstellers Drögmöller im Jahr 1994 gut ins Bild passt, genoss der doch weltweit den Ruf, den “Rolls Royce” unter den Bussen zu produzieren.
