EARL JOHNSON
It's a rare person who can see a big truck rumble by on the road or highway without so much as a glance in its direction. Photographer Earl Johnson sets out to capture the wide range of "working" trucks in use today, hauling all kinds of cargoes imaginable and, more often than not, being driven farther in a week than most of us travel in a year.
Like the countless songs that purvey the romance of the road and neverending double whitelines, Johnson captures the spirit of these big trucks in a stylistic manner which at once speaks of searching and escaping, and of longing for home.
