Although the very earliest experiments with two wheelers were conducted elewhere, Britain - and particularly the West Midlands- can claim to be the anvil on which motorcyling was forged. From Coventry and Birmingham came an apparently endless stream of marques and models, of technical innovation and sheer industrial energy. For much of the first six decades os this century, British motorcycles ruled the world´s roads, and many of its race tracks, too.
