LE GOTHA

Pour donner le départ des 24 Heures du Mans, l’A.C.O. a fait appel à des personnalités qui jouent un rôle direct ou indirect dans l’industrie automobile. Ces hommes célèbres et influents ont donné un lustre particulier à l’épreuve. Le premier chapitre se compose d’une quinzaine de portraits de quelques-­-unes de ces personnalités qui avouent leur passion pour le sport automobile.

LES INGÉNIEURS

Depuis leur origine, les 24 Heures du Mans ont été un terrain d’expérimentation irremplaçable pour de nombreuses techniques inédites. Derrière chacune des innovations se cachent de brillants ingénieurs. Ce chapitre montrera une dizaine de voitures sur lesquelles furent introduites les innovations les plus significatives ; il sera illustré de photos de voitures en course, accompagnées de portraits des ingénieurs.

LES GENTLEMEN DRIVERS

À côté des meilleurs pilotes professionnels, une nuée de gentlemen drivers, amateurs éclairés et talentueux, ont donné un panache singulier aux 24 Heures du Mans.

LES ARTISTES

There's a lot of content covering the years before the great race was created , and regarding races on the Bugatti circuit, but the main focus of the books is, of course, the 24 Hours. Each race is covered in six pages, though, so there's not a great deal of room for in-depth race coverage. The results are thorough, but qualifying is not mentioned. There are sections on drivers cars, other types of racing at the circuit and a history of track changes. Side-profile artworks of every winning car are included. It's a great souvenir and could rise in value in the years to come.

                    [sinopsis_editor] => Enzo Ferrari restera probablement la personnalité la plus marquante de l’histoire du sport automobile. À cinquante ans passés, il a fondé la marque qui porte son nom, l’imposant très rapidement comme LA référence dans le monde de la course. C’est dans les grandes épreuves d’endurance que Ferrari a construit sa légende, aux Mille Milles d’abord, aux 24 Heures du Mans ensuite. Au début des années soixante, la marque au cheval cabré régnait sur la plus grande course du monde, sans laisser le moindre espoir à ses adversaires. Jusqu’au jour où un géant venu d’Amérique se mit en tête de gagner Le Mans. Et vite ! Faute d’avoir pu acheter Ferrari, Ford se lança avec panache dans un combat singulier. De 1964 à 1967, le duel Ford-Ferrari enflamma les imaginations et le sport automobile changea à tout jamais de visage. Seul, Ferrari fit front avant d’être battu. C’est ce que l’histoire a retenu, même si de ces quatre duels, deux furent remportés par la marque italienne. 
De la Testa Rossa, ultime évolution de la voiture Sport des années cinquante à la 330 P4, sublime expression de l’élégance aérodynamique des sixties, en passant par la 250 LM au destin imprévisible, les Ferrari de cette période sont celles qui ont le plus marqué les esprits, car leur palmarès n’eut d’égal que leur beauté intemporelle. 


Déjà auteur de nombreux livres consacrés à l'histoire des 24 Heures du Mans, François Hurel poursuit dans cette voie avec le concours du magazine Le Mans Racing, dont il est Rédacteur en chef. Il s'attaque cette fois aux Prototypes Ferrari. Tout en s'attachant à l'histoire des hommes, pilotes et ingénieurs, l'auteur disséque la participation de tous les Prototypes Ferrari engagés au Mans de 1961 à 1967, tant par l'usine que par les privés. Un tableau récapitulatif et des fiches techniques complètent l'ouvrage, qui regorge de photos inédites et originales. 

Aussi riche en informations qu'en illustrations, « Sport & Prototypes FERRARI au MANS 1961-1967 » ne pourra que ravir les inconditionnels des 24 Heures et du cheval cabré.
